Carlos Sosa CastañedaI am a graphic design major working toward a certificate in journalism. I've been working within these fields since I was a freshman in high school. I designed for my school newspaper & yearbook, eventually becoming Editor of both. I am currently the lead Designer of my Universities News Organization. I specialize in motion design & publication design and I'm looking for a design position in the field of journalism that utilizes multimedia to tell stories visually. I hope to work in a city to connect with diverse communities and utilize public transportation, which is one of my greatest values.
THE PR-PERU-NYC DESCENDANTA Puerto Rican/Peruvian Design Student from Indianapolis who values the importance of communication, culture, and family. My focus in journalism, my IB education, and my long experience within the design world is the right blend of flavors and spice that gave me the ability to understand the importance of identity and how I as a designer can design in a more meaningful and thoughtful way. I’ve been using adobe products since I was three, making movies since I was seven and designing layouts since I was 14. Lifelong NPR listener too, love WFYI! Not only do I appreciate my own Latino Her- itage but as an International Baccalaureate and UC Darwin T. Turner scholar I have been taught, and continue to appreciate, the im- portance of a diverse perspective and an open mind. I have ambitious dreams, but sometimes it’s hard to see them clearly when adversity or distractions get in the way. When this happens, and I get lost, I close my eyes and remember. I remember where I’m from, who raised me, and how I got to where I am today. Looking to the past, reflecting and appreciating history has allowed me to be better prepared to look ahead and make intentional and meaningful decisions. I do this as a human and I do this as a designer.
